2 NW Hoopers Selected in 2014 NBA Draft

Bothell's LaVine and Chelan's Harris Jump to NBA

Continuing in the long line of NW hoops talent UCLA Freshman and Bothell HS star Zach LaVine along with Chelan HS Protege Joe Harris (UVA) look to make their stamp on the NBA Class of 2014.zach lavine

LaVine, a  lanky flashy scorer was a HS legend in these parts.  Known for his break-your-ankles moves to go with a flair for the dramatic, Lavine is hard to overlook on the court. The 6-foot-6 LaVine averaged 9.4 points and shot 37.5 percent from 3-point range as a freshman for UCLA in his only college season.  LaVine was selected 13th overall by the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Harris, the quintessential gym-rat, has dreamt of NBA stardom since he was a little kid.  The 6'6 Harris hung posters on his bedroom walls along with goals of making the NBA one day, that dream now marked off don't expect Harris to be content.  Joe Harris is a complete player along the lines of, dare we say, Larry Bird.  He can score, distribute, rebound and just flat out make his team better.  Harris went as the #33 pick to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

In other NW notes, UW's CJ Wilcox and former WSU Point Guard Xavier Thames also heard their names called.  Wilcox went in the 1st round to Steve Ballmer's new team the LA Clippers, while Thames was the 2nd to last pick taken by the Toronto Raptors.
